The purpose of this document is to provide a summary of benefits, indications, and contraindications for massage therapy. This aligns to CLO1 and is intended to be a quick overview with examples as the content should be familiar to all learners. If the learner wanted more information, it could be easily looked up based on what is in the document.

 

I applied the principles of visual design theory: contrast, alignment, repetition, and proximity. I kept the color theme simple, with a white background, black text, and a light purple in three areas using a table. I thought the purple broke up the white background and made the content transitions a bit easier. I did use some colors (green, yellow, and red) for the contraindications to provide visual clues for indications and contraindications. However, even if the document were to be printed in black and white, the absence of these colors would not be detrimental to any learner. I had to go back and redesign sections of the document from time to time as I reviewed aspects of the visual design theory. I felt most challenged with balancing the images and the text.
