Minicourse Features and LMS Declaration
Instructional Design Document
Four Features
Lectures will provide supporting instructional material and will include readings, graphics or images and videos. Discussion Forums are used to help translate concepts and ideas into practice and allow for the sharing of personal experiences and best practices. Real-world application will be done through client case-study/scenario-based learning that requires the learner to critically think about the client interaction in conjunction with the concepts and skills they are learning. Interactive quizzes will help learners gain immediate feedback on their understanding of concepts.
LMS Declaration
I selected Canvas for my minicourse LMS. It does not require a paid membership and is commonly used in higher education. Also, it has a lot of resources to help learn how to use the LMS. The features of Canvas also allows for a discussion forum, the use of videos, quizzes and assignments with clear rubrics.
Support Resources
Canvas has a lot of support resources for the instructor. The initial email also sends a link for a tutorial to help get you started with how to navigate the site, and even directs you to a course on Canvas that you can download to your dashboard.
